Who We Are
Haelen Hyperbarics is a growing network of physician operated Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) clinics. Haelen Hyperbarics also provides physicians with turn-key HBOT solutions to incorporate the therapy into their existing medical practices. Our mission is to help our patients reach their optimal health as quickly and safely as possible, and to proliferate the use of hyperbaric oxygen therapy in the United States.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is the use of greater than atmospheric pressure oxygen as a drug to treat basic disease processes/states, and their diseases. This therapy increases the oxygen concentration in the body up to 20 times normal at the cellular level, which promotes healing.
In the United States, HBOT is commonly used to treat 13 clinically accepted indications including diabetic wounds, decompression sickness, and carbon monoxide poisoning. Internationally, there are over 150 indications for HBOT including uses in neurology, pre and post surgery, sports medicine, anti-aging and pain management.

How It Works
In the 1600’s European doctors observed that their patients healed more quickly at sea level versus in the mountains. We know today that the partial pressure of oxygen decreases in the mountains resulting in lower tissue oxygenation. HBOT delivers oxygen quickly and in high concentrations to injured areas systemically. The increased atmospheric pressure levels (up to 3ATA, 29.4psi, or a diving depth of 66 ft.) causes oxygen molecules to become soluble, increasing their binding ability, and allowing more usable oxygen to cross over all cell membranes within the body.
This results in a substantial increase in tissue oxygenation, which forms new blood vessels (angiogenesis), fosters new cell growth (fibroblast formation), aids the ability of white blood cells to destroy bacteria and remove toxins (an increased immunologic response), and accelerates healing.
